Alabama special teams coordinator and tight end coach Joe Pannunzio will speak at Mississippi Bowl

Alabama special teams coordinator and tight end coach Joe Pannunzio will be the speaker at the Mississippi Bowl Banquet on Dec. 1 at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College's Hospitality Resort Management Center located on the Biloxi-Gulfport city limits.

Pannunzio returned to the Alabama staff in 2017, and had a separate stint of four years as the Crimson Tide's director of football operations. He has more than 30 years of coaching experience.

The former head coach at Murray State has also been a college assistant at the University of Miami,

He was the director of personnel operations for the Philadelphia Eagles, and has also coached at the University of Miami (Fla.), Ole Miss, Auburn, TCU, Minnesota and Kansas.

Pannunzio plucked Jimmy Graham from the Miami basketball team, and also coached Greg Olsen there. At Ole Miss, he tutored Kris Mangum.

He also coached at Mesa College, where the team twice played for the national championship.

A native of Pueblo, Colo., Pannunzio was a standout quarterback at Southern Colorado, earning honorable mention all-conference and in 1980. He also began his coaching career at his alma mater, working with wide receivers in 1981.

He and his wife, Rita, have two daughters, Angela Brown and Nico Segura and a son, Mario. They have one grandson, Michael Jo Brown, and sons-in-law Michael Brown and Jason Segura.
