Jones Bobcats rated No. 7 in Street and Smith's preseason poll

ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats are rated No. 7 in the annual Street and Smith's College Football preview magazine preseason poll.

Head coach Steve Buckley's Bobcats are coming off a 10-2 season and return most of the players from the 2018 roster. Jones beat Eastern Arizona 27-7 in the Mississippi Bowl, won its second straight MACJC South Division title and lost 19-14 to eventual national champion East Mississippi in the state championship game.

Iowa Western is rated No. 1 by Street and Smith's, followed by East Mississippi, Garden City (Kansas), Hutchinson (Kansas), Blinn (Texas) and Copiah-Lincoln at No. 6. Other MACJC schools in the poll are Northwest at No. 12 and Hinds at No. 19.

This poll includes both NJCAA and California schools.

The Street and Smith's College Football preview magazine is currently on sale at newsstands across the country.

Jones opens the season at Coahoma at 7 p.m. on Aug. 29. The first home game for the Bobcats will be at 7 p.m. on Sept. 12 vs. Hinds.
