Hester named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week

PERKINSTON — Jymetre Hester has been named MGCCC Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 2-8.

 

Hester, a freshman wide receiver from Belle Glade, Fla., scored twice in the first five minutes to lead No. 6 Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 36-6 win over Coahoma. Hester scored on a 20-yard jet sweep and a 35-yard go route, finishing with 6 catches for 80 yards.

Isaiah Gore, a freshman keeper from Laurel, allowed just two goals during a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs men's soccer team. He stopped nine of 11 shots, picking up a shutout in a 4-0 win over Southwest.

 

Christian Inchima, a freshman from Mississauga, Ontario, scored twice in a 4-0 win over Southwest.

 

Travis Isaac, a freshman wide receiver from Ocala, Fla., had two special teams tackles in a 36-6 win over Coahoma.

 

T.J. Ficklin, a sophomore defensive back from Brandon, had five total tackles in the win over Coahoma. He also broke up one pass.
