JUCO Hoops Titans: The JUCOWeekly Top 20

JUCO Hoops Titans: The JUCOWeekly Top 20

The first semester was unlikely for three blue blood programs: Coffeyville (5-8), South Plains (4-5), and Vincennes (5-11).

A combined record of 14-24 is unheard of from three great programs with Hall of Fame coaches.

Coffeyville is led by All-American candidate guard Love Bettis who has started all 13 games and averaged 16.9 points while shooting an impressive 88.9% from the free-throw line.

Dayshawn Wiley (13.3) and Deng Mayar (11.0) are additional double-figure scorers for Coffeyville.

Coffeyville has struggled shooting only 30% from three-point range and is only outrebounding their opponents by 0.4 rebounds per game.

South Plains is 4-1 in games with Kieves Turner (14.0 points) and 0-4 without him. Turner is a 88% free shooter who is averaging 3.6 assists per game.

Eric Coleman Jr. (10.9) and DJ Avery (10.4) are also double-figure scorers for the Texans.

Similar to Coffeyville, South Plains shoots 30.5% from three-point range and has been outrebounded by 1.1 rebounds per game.

Vincennes entered the break, winning two of their last games, and held a halftime lead versus John A. Logan.

Vincennes has four players carrying the load for the Trailblazers:

Thow Biel (13 pts, 5.8 rebounds), Brevin Jefferson (11.6 pts, 3.8 assists), Shilo Jackson (10.8 pts, 10.5 rebounds), and Darrius Davis (8.1 pts, 5.7 rebounds).

The Trailblazers only score 58.4 points per game on 28.1% 3-point shooting. Defensively, they only allow 64.9 points per game.

A high-quality coach in Junior College basketball can be a huge difference-maker.

I am bullish on all three programs and what they can accomplish in the 2nd half of the season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one of these programs back at Hutch for the National Tournament.
