At-Large Implications

#12 Santa Fe (12-2) v Eastern Florida State (10-6)

JUCOWeekly #12 Santa Fe enters tonight's contest versus the Titans as a serious at-large candidate.  Their only losses on the same came on November 13th to Chipola and 74-69 and on December 11th to State College of Florida 99-84.

However, Santa Fe only has one marquee win as they defeated Florida SouthWestern State 83-81 on November 6th

Santa Fe has a balanced scoring attack with 4 players in double-figures led by All-American candidate Hasan Abdul-Hakim who averages 14.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Santa Fe is 5th in the country averaging 10.1 made three-point field goals per game.

Eastern Florida State enters the game with a 10-6 record.  Don't let their record fool you.  They are talented and have been riddled with injuries.  The Titans play one of the most challenging schedules in JUCO basketball.

Eastern Florida State has earned three marquee wins (Chipola, Spartanburg Methodist, and Harcum).  The Titans are led by Cleveland State signee, Brody Boyer, who averages 11.4 points per game on 43% 3-point shooting.

Indian Hills v #14 Triton

Indian Hills, one of the blue bloods in junior college basketball, has struggled at home this season with a 7-4 record.  The good news for Warriors fans is that they are 7-1 in neutral court and road games as they travel to play Triton.

Indian Hills plays one of the most grueling schedules in the country.  They have picked up 3 marquee wins (Moberly, John A. Logan, and New Mexico).  Their 5 losses are all to really good teams (Butler, NEO A&M, Highland, Salt Lake, and Southeastern).

Indian Hills is 5th in the country by allowing their opponents to shoot only 36.2% from the field.

When Indian Hills hits three-point field goals, they are tough to beat.  Freshman Eddiean Tirado is averaging over 3 made three-point field goals per game and averages 10.6 points per game.

Talented Freshman forward Enoch Kalamby is another fun player to watch for Indian Hills.  He is averaging 9.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

The Triton Trojans enters tonight's game with a 13-2 record looking for a signature win.  Their only losses were by three points each on neutral court games to Three Rivers and John A. Logan.  After losing to John A. Logan, Triton has won seven games in a row.  However, the Trojans are still looking for a marquee win.

Triton is 7th in the country in field goal percentage at 52.9% and 3rd in the country averaging 26.3 assists per game.

Triton has an incredibly well-balanced attack that goes ten players deep.  Teonta McKeithen leads Triton in scoring at 14.2 points per game on 47.7% three-point shooting.

#2 Salt Lake v #10 College of Southern Idaho

Salt Lake is as close to a lock for Hutch as there is in the country.  The Bruins are 18-0 with 5 marquee wins (New Mexico, Odessa, Snow x2, Indian Hills).

Salt Lake seems to check all of the boxes.  They average an incredible 14.8 steals per game (4th in the country) and are incredibly efficient on offense shooting 53.3 percent from the field (6th in the country).

If there is any chink in the armor, the Bruins only have a 6.7 rebound margin per game (89th in the country) and are shooting 34.5% from three-point range (63rd).

On a talented roster, Doctor Bradley stands out with his incredible athleticism.  The high-flyer averages 15.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.  Bradley is one of five Bruins in double figures.

The College of Southern Idaho enters tonight with a 16-3 record with losses to Lee, Utah State Eastern, and Southern Nevada.  The Golden Eagles have 1 marquee win by defeating Snow.  CSI did have an impressive road trip with true road wins in Texas over Panola, Tyler, and Paris.

The Golden Eagles are in need of signature wins to pad their resume for a potential at-large birth to the National Tournament if they fail to win the District.

The good news is that the Golden Eagles appear to be soaring at the right time as they have won 6 games in a row.

Like Salt Lake, CSI has 5 players in double figures led by Taelon Martin at 12.7 points per game and KT Ramey at 11.8.

Keep your eyes on rebound machine Daylen Williams who is averaging 10.1 rebounds per game.
