TYLER, Texas – The 12th-ranked Jones College Lady Bobcats ended play in the NJCAA Division I National Tennis Tournament here Tuesday.
The tournament schedule was moved up and matches were shortened because of inclement weather. Matches will be moved to the SMU Indoor Facility because of rain in order to complete the tournament.
The Lady Bobcats end the tournament with 7.5 points, which puts them in 21stplace.
Hillsborough College (Florida) leads the event with 39 points and ASA Miami is second with 35 points.
Two Jones players reached the finals of their respective consolation rounds.
Ariadna Jordan (Spain) beat Irene Romero of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) 7-5 in No. 2 singles. She blanked Melina Oropeza of Pima Community College (Arizona) 6-0 in the semifinals before falling to Bar Shimoni of Broward College (Florida) 3-6 in the finals.
Kaitlyn Craig (Petal) defeated Kara Clark of Copiah-Lincoln 6-3 in No. 4 singles. She blanked Sofia Samra of Harford College (Maryland) 6-0 in the semifinals and lost 2-6 to Gwendolen Sior of Barton County (Kansas) in the consolation round finals.
Danielle Viljoen (Jackson) beat Karla Ortega of St. Petersburg (Florida) 7-6 (4) in the No. 3 singles consolation round. She lost 2-6 to Lisa Guitton of North Central Texas College in the semifinals.
Judith Mills (Pontotoc) defeated Kelly Hudak of Harford 6-4 in the No. 6 singles consolation round. She lost 4-6 to Madison Shows of Co-Lin in the semifinals.
Mireia Jordan (Spain) and Ariadna Jordan lost 3-6 to Georgina Kaindoah and Takalini Molaoa of Cowley College (Kansas) in the No. 1 doubles consolation round.
