Hinds Tennis competes at NJCAA Championships; Finishes highest ranked team in Mississippi

TUSCON, ARIZONA – The Hinds Community College men's tennis team competed in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament this past week, after winning the MACJC and Region 23 Championships back in April.

The Hinds Eagles finished the NJCAA National Tournament with 14 total team points leaving them ranked 14th in the nation. That point total and ranking makes them highest ranked team in Mississippi.

Eric Holmes finished as the No. 3 Singles backdraw champion.

Carlos Trujillo finished as the No. 1 Singles backdraw runner-up.

Holmes and Drew Rexrode finished as the No. 3 Doubles backdraw runners-up.

Additionally, prior to the start of the tournament, assistant coach TJ Carter was named the ITA Region III Assistant Coach of the Year.

The Eagles conclude one of their best seasons in school history with a 14-2 regular season record, were MACJC State and Region 23 Champions, and had the opportunity to compete for a National Championship.
